This blog chronicles of my experiences as a photography enthusiast.

I graduated from college with my bachelors degree in Computer Science and Systems Programming.  My career for the past twenty five years has been in data processing, information systems, and system analysis and design.  I'm self-taught in the field of photography with help from my father as opposed to many professional photographers that studied the arts and have had technical training in the field.  Being self-taught, I am always looking for resources that can help me produce the quality images of images I've seen by the professionals.

As I read more, I've learned that photography is not just about setting the camera and pushing the shutter release.  Excellent photography is about:
  • Equipment
  • Technical Expertise
  • Business
  • Communication
  • Workflows and Procedures
  • Preparation

Ed Hineline Jr. PhotographyWelcome to Ed Hineline Jr. Photography.  I started these pages out of my own frustration to easily find clear and concise information about photography equipment and techniques to improve my skills.  I want to know how great images are shot.  I want to know if it is standard practice to use Photoshop or some other post processing software to manipulate images.  I want to know what makes a photographer great in today's world of digital cameras as opposed to those that shot images with film?

CameraLabs.com provides video reviews of DSLR cameras, lenses, and compact cameras. What I found to be unique with this site are the complete video explanations of each camera and lens listed. This is a good source if you are looking to purchase a camera or lens. The site reviews Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Sony, and more. The reviews are objective, to the point, and demonstrates the equipment.

Ed Hineline Jr. PhotographyThe very first microstock photography image I ever sold made me a spectacular $0.24. Despite all the work, anguish, and disappointment I experienced to reach this point, that $0.24 was one of the most fulfilling photography objectives I've experienced.

Ed Hineline Jr. PhotographyAn enthusiast is "One who is filled with enthusiasm; one who is ardently absorbed in an interest or pursuit;" (Answer's.com). I consider myself a photography enthusiast.  I have been involved in photography for many years. From working in our family owned photo processing lab, to shooting pictures of events, to selling micro stock photography.
